Drainage Improvements Begin at Several Locations Throughout the District

During the month of August the Shenandoah Farms Sanitary District began implementation of an aggressive drainage replacement and improvement program.  The project includes the installation of new and replacement of nonfunctioning culverts throughout the District.  The project is possible as a result of the recently approved Roadway and Drainage Study, which provides us with sound engineering data in order to adequately determine the sizes of new culverts.  While there are numerous locations throughout the District which need to be addressed, we have focused our initial efforts on locations that do not have a culvert, have environmental or safety issues, create roadway maintenance issues, and/or are damaging  private properties.

We have been successful in installing new culverts at nine (9) locations so far on Dogwood Farms Road, Pine Ridge Road, Old Oregon Road,  Martin’s Farm Road, and Freeze Road.  We are currently in the process of reviewing other locations for additional work.  Often times the installation of new culverts require the closure of the roadways for short periods of time.  We appreciate your cooperation and patience during this work and for driving safely through our work zones.  Photographs of the work being performed can be seen below.

Thank you,

Robert B. Childress
